Cell Phone Use
Should students in grades four to six bring cell phones to school, the following rules must be followed:
- Outside, cell phones shall remain in backpacks and are not to be used. Students are to be active and engaged with others.
- Cell phones shall remain in backpacks or in teacher storage and be turned off inside the school. Teachers may permit students to check cell phones at designated breaks for messages. Teacher permission is needed. The school, the division, and staff are not responsible for any devices should students choose to bring to school and damage or loss occurs.
- No social media should be accessed during the school day.
- Students will not use cell phone to call during the day unless given permission by teacher. Wearable smart devices, such as Apple watches, shall be on a mode that eliminates distractions.
- First infraction – cell phone turned into office and parent notified. Cell phone to remain at home the following day.
- Second infraction – parent will pick up cell phone, loss of cell phone privilege for the remainder of the year.
**No picture taking or recording by students is allowed. Any posting of content to social media will result in immediate and complete loss of cell phone privileges. June 2024
